Machine learning isn't just a buzzword. Google's machine learning platform, TensorFlow, is being used all over the world by developers, big and small, to solve problems at scale.

In a bid to increase adoption, we set out to show other developers that TensorFlow is powerful, scalable and easy to use. The global project took us around the world to document seven stories of success.

My favourite was based in Rome. Researchers, developers, students and palaeographers joined forces to transcribe the world's largest archive of medieval manuscripts. The Vatican 'secret archive' contains 85km of handwritten documents that need to be transcribed a task only possible with the power of machine learning.
